This is Timmy Hamm AKA SLOTH. He is a young talented artist/designer from
the north Phoenix area. Sloth first
started off as a graffiti artist hitting walls all over the valley and moved
onto tagging trucker hats and shoes for his friends from school. I first saw his work when I was into graffiti
while living in central Phoenix years back and noticed his unique style and how
different it was from all the other surrounding pieces. I’ve followed this guys work for a few years
now and watched him progress into a self made designer who has a brilliant way
of marketing himself and landing amazing gigs designing for companies the likes
of Vans and Red Bull (click the link to see his process of painting the shoes).
His style is really unique and different compared to so many other designers of this day and age and his personality really shows through his work. There is something inspiring about someone who found something they love doing and has turned that passion into a profitable business and has fun while doing it. As a of recently he has become completely self employed as an artist and designer and is a one man army behind the Sloth tag and business. Hope you enjoy his work as much as I do.

This blog is fantastic! I like the way that these shoes are designed. It is a memorable way of distinguishing an object in a world where everyone has the same thing. I think this is a great way to create personal style and show your talent as an artist.
ReplyDeleteI got into street art when I was in high school and honestly, ever since, everything I design has a street art element in it whether it be simplicity, vibrance of colors or abstract design. Thanks so much for sharing this. I think people who have the guts to push their skills out into the world are awesome. Good for your friend for designing and getting gigs. His designs are very cool and could easily even be transformed into t shirt designs and layouts.
ReplyDeleteI really like this designer’s artwork. The street, pop art style with his unique attributes look really sleek. I love how he uses thick and thin lines to emphasize detail. Check out the TOMS he designed.
ReplyDeleteI love Timmy! I went to the high school that his wife teaches at (they are super cute). He did some awesome work for the high school's media teacher. I didn't know he was that popular! Defiantly a cool dude with awesome artwork!
ReplyDeleteI love how street art is becoming really popular in fashion graphics and trends. His designs remind me of band t-shirts that use street art and graffiti inspiration to create wacky, simple images and hand-drawn text. Even just for fashion, bright colors are back in style with a thing called color blocking, where you just put bold, different statements of color in your outfit. His designs are great because he seems to do them completely with his imagination which is awesome.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely inspiring to see someone's small hobby and passion turn out into a job and name for themselves! It's also a plus that he is from and based out of Phoenix which makes it unique instead of LA, San Francisco, New York and other places where the 'big guys' are.
ReplyDeleteI love his particular style, how the characters kind of blow off the shoe onto the other. It may be a bit too flashy for me to wear, but it's still incredibly interesting!
ReplyDeleteI love shoe art. I actually started doing that my freshman year of high school. I picked up a pair of cheap white canvas shoes and spent a night painting zombie feet on top-trying to make them realistic as possible . I wore them for 4 years and every where I went, people wanted to know where I got it and it would be humorous how they needed to take a second or third look to realize they weren't my actually feet! I never made another pair but if I did, i probably would have had a business by now!
