Magazine Design
I found magazine design really interesting. It isn't like book design or poster design. It is a mixture of a lot of different design. I stumbled across Inspiration Hut and found some really cool magazine designs. I also found some really cool ones on Neat Designs probably my favorite examples. Another site called Designer Daily was a great place to browse through magazine designs.
The cover of Maverick is really cool. It doesn't follow the regular design that most magazines do. I like that some things are sideways and somethings are drawn on the cover. It has a very modern feel to it.
I really like the way they separate columns and lay out their pages. The clean and finished feeling that they have is inspiring.
I really like this vintage look & design of the Maverick cover. The neutral colors & simplistic layout reminds me of the 60s. I also like the top layout & how it goes against the typical magazine spread trying to cram as much content on a page. I enjoy the use of negative space at the top.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great find, I think the page layouts are pretty relevant to what we're doing in Graphic Design 2/ Typographics 2. The non-traditional column layouts would be perfect for our Book assignment, and are really inspirational for those of us who have yet to turn them in. I feel that layouts that aren't the usual two-column, pull-quote, etc. magazine layouts are more fun to read and more engaging for your eyes. They definitely keep me interested even though they are not necessarily more efficient!
ReplyDeleteIf it wasn't for newspaper and magazine layout, I would have never discovered my love for graphic design. Being introduced to it all through newspaper and yearbook club in high school, it all just clicked for me.
ReplyDeleteI love the top spread. Super clean and a nice use of a grid. Those links had some more great examples of layout and design.
