Brand New, New brands.

Well, This has to be my favorite branding-related website.

The Brand New section of the underconsideration website is my personal "informant" for all the major rebrand cases on a global scale. It also has a section where professionals of the industry reviews some rebrands in-depth. It has a database of cases that goes back to around 2006.

The website is also crawling with other people who shares the same interest of branding, although the comment section can get hectic with people comparing logos with similar design traits (even though the two companies may be from different continents, and different professional sectors) and people trolling with self-made memes and other shenanigans. Nonetheless there are many insightful comments regarding the case in question. Plus, the rest are pretty amusing to read anyway.

The rest of underconsideration is full of goodies as well.  Art of the Manu would be my runner-up favorite.

But yeah, have a great rest of the semester!

Logos, Branding and new ideas

I am not much of a user of Pinterest at all, but, I am a big fan of StumbleUpon! I, at first, stumbled just for giggles, but now I have broadened my likes and by adding art and especially graphic design to my interests, I have stumbled upon an endless amount of informational and useful websites! Some are funny where as some, like THIS ONE, are super relevant to our current project! This website shows a bunch of options and different styles of logos for a lot of different companies. While scrolling through I even saw very few of the "trending" logos which I have been trying to avoid. There are a lot of other cool options to browse on this website also such as branding AND websites! I hope you find this as useful as I did for brainstorming and a fresh approach!
P.s.
If you don't stumble upon graphic design already, it is super helpful!

Beer Labels

Beer Labels

While browsing one of my favorite websites—Juxtapoz.com, I stumbled upon this list of "Top 25 Modern Beer Labels". I thought this post would be relatable to our Packaging project to those who need some inspiration.

Here's a couple I admire a lot. I like that handdrawn graffiti effect on these labels. I've never tasted them personally but the way it's presented would definitely entice me.

The Strategy of Branding

Branding is very important in making a product or company well-known. According to the AMA (The American Marketing Association) branding is a name, term, sign, symbol or design, or a combination of them intended to identify the goods and services of one or a group of sellers and to differentiate them from other sellers" (Lake).

The important features of assuring a successful brand are:
  • Making sure your brand's message is clear
  • The brand is achieving buyer motivation
  • Creates user loyalty with future products that the company may have
One company that highly succeeds in branding would be Apple. "Apple has redefined branding by blurring the lines between product and producer" (ABT). Apple tends to incorporate their products with their advertisements with slogans such as "I'm a Mac" for their mac users  or "Think Different " for the crazy ones, meaning that Apple's products aren't for the corporate person/suits and ties, but for the creative ones who are outside the box. In terms of product loyalty, Apple accomplishes this more than any other company. Their consumers like to integrate their design and keep to only a few products such as five or six rather than hundreds like their competitors, hence simple design. If their consumers have a Macbook, they are more likely to have an iPhone, iPad, etc. as well. Their products are seen or presented as "revolutionary" and people desire those types of products.

Apple has become one of the most successful companies in the world and is a huge power house in technology. Apple products have come to be a 'must have' and the company has continued to reinvent their branding image for many years.
