Creating a logo

When Creating a  logo for a client,

As a designer we have to go through a number of steps to create a successful and fundamental logo that will stand the test of time of the corporation. Not all logos will have worked well and when changing the brand identity the old logo may be more useful due to people already knowing the logo it self.

What is the function of the logo?
Who are you creating it for?
What type of company is it for?

All companies are looking for something a little different in a logo.

Who are we trying to target?
Are we looking for younger crowd of people or possibly an older generation.

SKETCH SKETCH SKETCH,

Dont limit your self to one type of design. Onceyou think you've come to a solid design think of ways to alter that design a few more ways. Keep the design simple that way it can be used a lot of different ways.

Always sketch and design in black in white first, if a design doesn't work in black and white than it wont always work in color.

Once you think you have found a design, that is successful go and talk with the client and get more opinions of what they think, if there are things that want to be changed or altered.

Than think of the color pallet of the company.

Work with the idea that only using simple colors, what type of emotions you are trying to portray.

Get more feedback from your peers, even go and talk to the target market, ask if this grabs attention, or if it provokes a feeling.

Than go and rework, tweek the design ro better suit the new found information.

Put the new design back out there, Once finalized create all the logo guidelines on how it could be used.

Not all logos are going to work, even after you spend hours designing them, you may need to start back over and try again. There is always going to be something that speaks to someone else more than another.

Dont be discouraged from failure.
