Industrial Design Served

For this week, I wanted to focus on industrial design. I feel like as graphic designers it is also important to be knowledgeable about packaging and the designs that go with it. I found this site to be very interesting just to gain ideas and some perspectives of industrial design. We are continuing to move into a more simplistic style, and you will see that here on this site. Its a modern site that works like a social net work or pintrest, or Instagram. Industrial Design Served also has information about jobs in different places, just as another idea/ opportunity for the future. They focus on development from student to job. Check it out! Its pretty cool!

  1. I checked out the site and it is like an extension/partner with behance, which I thought was pretty neat. The first product design I clicked on was RAVY - a set of pots, pans, and skillets with a universal, electric, chargeable handle, allowing you to cook things anywhere via the electric cooking method. A prime example of its usefulness would be when you're camping and its too windy for a fire; just cook your food in the electric skillet with the battery/handle that you charged before you left the house.

  2. This one one aspect of design i feel like is important but often over looked by the public. The designs just seem to be that way naturally. the audience seems to think that it just comes this way because how else would it come? The packaging fitting a product so well that the user doesnt even look twice. To me this is very interesting on a psychological level as well as design level.

  3. Calle,
Thanks for sharing this site! When I opened it and saw that it is an extension of Behance I immediately knew that I would like it. I agree with Colton's comment from above, "The audience seems to think that it just comes this way because how else would it come?" As designers, we obviously see the world through design and notice it all around us, therefore appreciating it. I feel this site is not only a collection of innovative industrial design but homage to innovative design.

  4. That is such a neat site. There are so many interesting and unique products and designs on there. I also love the job search page. It will be a great tool for when I have to start looking for a job in the real world.

  5. Some REAL interesting stuff on there. Discrete sex toys that hide in plain sight... now thats some injenuity. One of them was a lamp some others were candles. Some bizarre uses but it highlights the simplicity you were talking about where things are so well designed and focused on practicality that things like this can be invented.
